According to Cloudflare, Precursor deliberately focuses on the temporal patterns and individual rhythm of keyboard inputs during data collection, but not on the actual inputs themselves. The company states that collected data is not linked to personal identities and does not serve to create persistent user profiles. However, continuous monitoring of movement and typing behavior throughout an entire website visit remains sensitive from a data protection perspective.

Cloudflare justifies the need for advanced detection mechanisms with reference to the changed threat landscape: the company estimates that approximately 57 percent of all global Internet requests originate from automated bots. This necessitates supplementing static security queries with dynamic defense mechanisms, as established procedures are increasingly losing effectiveness.
