YouTube video link (only visible if JavaScript is turned off). We are thrilled to introduce new improvements to the Google Pay API, offering greater flexibility and control for merchant-initiated transactions (MIT). These updates allow developers to build seamless and secure payment flows for a broader set of scenarios, such as subscriptions, deferred payments, and automatic top-ups. Although the Google Pay API has always supported merchant-initiated transactions (MIT), its previous specification was mainly built around immediate customer-initiated transactions (CIT). The merchant’s intended future charges could not be fully expressed in a single API request. The new updates now allow you to explicitly specify the conditions for upcoming payments, delivering greater transparency to users and enabling more seamless transaction handling. The updates center on three primary MIT categories.
